Green Bay Wisconsin Photographer Mike Roemer • Best of 2011

2011 was an exciting year to be a Green Bay, Wisconsin photographer.  Covering the Green Bay Packers in their Super Bowl run was exciting and made for some memorable photos.  The D1 NCAA women’s basketball team that I cover for Wisconsin – Green Bay also had a great season and made it to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament.
My sports photography is my highest profile work and helped bring up to 4,000 visitors in one day to my blog, but my photography goes much further than that.   I traveled to the East Coast as a gaming and casino photographer and to the West Coast as a manufacturing photographer. Combined,  I spent over a month in Missouri working as a healthcare photographer and an industrial photographer.
The past year was also a great year for my wife, Judy, and me.  We moved into a new home with an amazing wooded ravine with almost 3 acres and we adopted a happy and playful black lab collie mix from a no kill shelter.  You can see a picture of our pup, Chica, cooling down in her pool on a warm summer’s day in the gallery.
So what’s my favorite shot from the past year?  I would say it’s a tie between a photo of a way-too-happy Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt greeting President Obama or a photo of three police officers watching in amazement as Packers fans Charlie Donner and Jeff Knott show up for a Packers game with very real looking, exposed fake butts.  But the shot that gives me the warmest feeling?  The one of Chica in her pool.
So, here are some of my favorite photos from 2011.  Thanks for checking out my work and I’m looking forward to showing you more in 2012.
