Wisconsin Commercial Photographer • Wisconsin Editorial Photographer • Mike Roemer’s Best of 2016

It’s that time of the year again to look back on the work I completed the previous year as a Midwest commercial photographer.  Here is a selection of my favorite images that I created for my clients and a few I created for myself in 2016.  Some of my biggest clients continued to be in healthcare, but I also pushed more into the world of industrial photography and that was fun, interesting and challenging.  I already have some industrial photography work scheduled for 2017 that will take me around the US and even outside of the country a few times.  The only downside to some of the industrial work is that I can’t show it – those darn confidentially agreements.  When I go through a year’s worth of work, more than a few sports photos jump out as my favorites.  Continuing to be a sports photographer is good, as I think sports photography helps you speed up your workflow both in shooting and post production.  That’s a good skill to have in all aspects of photography, whether the hat you’re wearing is as a commercial photographer, agriculture photographer, lifestyle photographer, transportation photographer or healthcare photographer.

I’d love to write more about 2016, but I need to get out there and start working on the images for my best of 2017.

Thanks for looking!

Mike

I was shooting some summer lifestyle photos for the Visitor and Convention Bureau in Manitowoc, Wisconsin when I found out that a tall ship had overnighted in their harbor. Between locations, I swung by the marina to catch this shot of the boat heading out in to lake Michigan.

A group of bikers take an early morning ride along the shore of Lake Michigan. I shot this as part of a project to help a client build a library of images for various needs.

While shooting some group and individual shots of the Green Bay women’s basketball team, I needed to get a shot of the freshman class. They just jumped out on the white seamless and did this without any direction from me.

I shot this for an industrial photography client as a continuing project to build images of their partners. I love the laughing smile and the relaxed pose she gave me.

This is a nice moment between a patient and staff that I shot for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

Bartender and owner of the Wickman House, Mike Holmes, makes a Moscow Mule at the Ellison Bay, Wisconsin restaurant. This was shot while on assignment for the New York Times.

During a lifestyle shoot along the shores of Lake Michigan, the Two Rivers Fish Derby parade passed by so I grabbed a couple shots.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Randall Cobb make a young fan’s day before a Packers game.

While shooting from a lift high above the start line of the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon with Lambeau Field in the background, I couldn’t pass on the great shadows cast by the early morning light.

An excited Aaron Rodgers during Green Bay Packers player introductions.

I’ve shot this photo a number of times, but I think this is my favorite one. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Jordy Nelson spin a ball in the end zone after warm ups.

Green Bay Packers defensive end Datone Jones tries to catch a squirrel that ran out on to the field in his helmet.

A young family enjoys the fall colors of Point Beach State Forest.

Cowboys Brice Butler tries to hide behind a ball boy after scoring a touchdown.

While waiting for another shot to come together during an industrial photography shoot in Illinois, I couldn’t pass on the great light on these shapes.

The Kewaunee, Wisconsin lighthouse as a super moon rises over Lake Michigan.

Verona celebrates their 69-41 win over Appleton North in their Division 1 semifinals in the WIAA girls’ state basketball championships.

I shot this photo on a getaway week in Door County, Wisconsin. As my wife, Judy, checked out a couple of stores, I strolled down to the start of the Fruit Loop Fun Run which was part of the Fish Creek Winter Festival.

Former Packers quarterback Brett Favre pats himself on the head during a halftime ceremony for his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

This shot got a ton of likes when I posted it on Instagram. I think it evokes a memory for people of sharing time with a parent. Lee Kuehl enjoys a brat with his son, Jake at Lambeau Field before a Packers game.

Graduation at St Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin. I’ve shot this event a number of times for the college and I’m always on the lookout for little moments like this.
