Stepping Away From The Action And Trying To Be More Creative • Sports Photographer

On Saturday I had the chance to step away from shooting mainly action at the Green Bay Phoenix women’s basketball game against UIC on Carol’s Court at the Kress Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  Green Bay won the game 99-53 so I shot a little action to document that, but for the most part I tried to be creative with some very shallow depth of field with a Canon 85mm F1.2 and two tilt shift lenses, the Canon TS-E 24mm F3.5 and the Canon TS-E 17mm F4.  The tilt shift lens allow you to select a point of focus on your frame by tilting the plane of focus.  The 85mm F1.2 when shot wide open allows you to have a very shallow depth of field and gives you an amazing boken.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the game.  Next weekend it’s back to shooting mostly action as both the Green Bay men’s and women’s teams continue their pursuit  for the Horizon League conference championships.

Thanks for looking!
