Here are some of my favorite photos from the 2016 Cellcom Green Bay Marathon and half marathon on Sunday May 22nd in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Both races start and finish outside Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, and the runners even take a loop around the field on their final mile of the run. The runners and fans are treated to a party in the parking lot with the staples of a Packers tailgate party: beer and brats. I like to tell the story of the day through the emotion of the runners, but I also like looking for unique signs fans display to make the day more fun. This is the 16th time I’ve covered this race, so I was looking for some different vantage points. Both races start in waves, so I used a lift to get myself high above the start line. I think this gave me some different looking shots than I’ve gotten in the past either from ground level or from a ladder. I also spent more time on the half marathon course after hearing about how a neighborhood came out to support runners by placing sprinklers midway through the race on a particularly hilly part of the course to help them combat the heat.
So here are some of my favorite photos from the races. Thanks for looking!
